Over the next few months, we will be introducing you to our 2012 deacons. Each of our members are assigned a deacon each year. At Southview, deacons are servants, after the Biblical pattern of Acts 6. The task of the deacon is to serve with the Elders and staff in performing pastoral ministries and caring for the individuals and families entrusted to their care. Deacons care for the temporal needs of the members, visiting them in the hospital, praying with individuals and families in times of crisis, and providing spiritual support in times of need. Deacons strive to protect the unity of the body of Christ, always seeking to resolve conflict within the body and preventing Satan from gaining a foothold within our fellowship.
